In April 2018, 300 elite players from all over Australia came together for the FNQ Youth Cup which combined one day of optional advanced training followed by a 2-day tournament featuring some of the best teams and academies from all over the country. In 2019 we’re taking it to a whole new level with more teams, more regions and a new world class location, The Grounds in Woree.
Watch highlights of the 2018 event below
April 15: One-day Advanced Camp
Cost: $50 per player – includes a limited edition 2019 FNQ Youth Cup training shirt
The optional training camp places all participating players in age-appropriate stations for high-level training with our hand picked expert coaching panel. Each exercise goes for approximately 15 minutes before they move to the next station and coach. The unique feature of this camp is that all players are mixed, each wearing the same training shirt, giving them the opportunity to train with likeminded individuals from other regions as well as get up-close-and-personal with some of the best coaches in the country.
The 2018 star coaching panel:
– Johnny Warren Medalist, Sydney FC Youth Coach and All White and A-League legend Shane Smeltz
– Former Ajax, FC Utrecht and Central Coast Mariners Champion Patrick Zwaanswijk
As well as our own
– Adelaide United Club Champion, Gold Coast United Coaches Player of the Year and FFA Honouree Zenon Caravella
The 2019 edition will yet again boast another fantastic group of high-profile coaches, yet to be announced.
April 16, 17 and 18: Far North QLD Youth Cup – increased to 3 days in 2019
Cost: $800 per team excl. GST (maximum 10 players per team)
A high-level, fast and furious 7v7 format, this style of football showcases the very best in technical talent given it’s small sided format. With each team receiving a minimum of 9 x 30 minute games, every player participating will leave with very important football minutes and a truckload of priceless development in their locker.
2019 Age Divisions: U10, U11, U12, U13/14 (combined)
300 players and 28 teams from all over the east coast of Australia came to compete, including Sydney academies Futboltec and Mongo Football, Brisbane academy Football Centre of Development, Mackay NPL club Magpies Crusaders United, Townsville academy Go Full 90 (program deliverers of NPL club NQ United), Atherton academy AVS Football Academy as well as our own Cairns based academy, Caravella Football Academy, all whom boast some of their respective regions brightest talents.
After the success of the 2018 edition, interest for 2019 has sky rocketed and we’re very excited by the quality of teams registering.
* Note: Due to the fact that there are only 8-10 teams in each division, we will not be considering entries for FNQ based teams to ensure we have plenty of coverage from other cities and countries. Exclusivity to FNQ will be given to Caravella Football Academy*
WHY THE FAR NORTH QLD YOUTH CUP?
Some of the best coaching and talent is now in the academy football landscape and in most parts of Australia, happily co-exist with elite clubs for the betterment of the juniors. The success of the FNQ Youth Cup is proof that it should only ever be about the football.
As spots are limited to 8-10 teams in each division, the FNQ Youth Cup is invitational only and successful applicants will receive an official invitation after they have registered. Only established academies and high-level club teams will be considered – no individuals.
For 2019 we will only accept one team in each region (metropolitan cities excepted) to ensure we get enough representation from all parts of Australia and potentially overseas.
Accomodation packages available
We are excited to be able to offer our 2019 travelling teams an accomodation/meal/bus package. Please advise if this is something that would assist you.
